Terms of service

Effective 30 September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Specter Systems Corp, a California corporation that operates rtro at rtro.dev and app.rtro.dev. By using rtro you accept them. If you are using rtro on behalf of a company, you accept them for that company too.

What rtro is

rtro is a retro board for teams. You can use it two ways:

Features described on this site as part of the Team plan may roll out over time. What you are entitled to is what the product does when you use it, not what a marketing page previews.

Who may use rtro

You must be at least 16 years old. If the law where you live requires a higher age for agreeing to terms like these, that higher age applies.

Instant boards

Instant boards trade ceremony for some sharp edges. By using one you accept how they work:

Accounts

Team accounts sign in with a link sent to your email address. There is no password. Keep access to your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Your content

Cards, votes, actions, board titles and names you type into rtro are yours. You give us only the license we need to operate the service: to store your content, show it to the people your board or team is shared with, and delete it per the retention rules. We do not read your boards except as needed to run the service, debug a problem you report, or meet a legal obligation. We never sell or train on your content.

Acceptable use

Do not use rtro to break the law, to harass people, to distribute malware or phishing links, to probe or disrupt the service, or to post content you have no right to share. We may remove content or block access that violates this section. Boards are for retros and similar collaboration, not for public file hosting or spam distribution.

Payment

The Team plan is one flat subscription per team, regardless of how many people are on the team. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, which you can do any time from the billing portal — cancellation stops future charges and the plan runs until the end of the paid period. If a charge fails or a subscription lapses, the team drops to the free plan, and after a 14-day grace period boards beyond the free plan's limit are deleted.

The service is provided as is

rtro is a small service run by a small company. We work to keep it up and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability or that data will never be lost. Instant boards are deleted on schedule by design, and you should copy anything you need to keep out of rtro. To the fullest extent the law allows, rtro is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Specter Systems Corp is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of rtro. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars if you paid nothing.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using rtro at any time; to delete a team account, email us. We may suspend or terminate access that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. Sections that by their nature should survive — your content license during wind-down, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law — survive termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes to paid plans will be announced to team owners by email before they take effect. Continuing to use rtro after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes belong to the state or federal courts located in California, and both sides consent to their jurisdiction.
